The Left Party in Värmland nominates four names for the party leader post, including pre-drafted Nooshi Dadgostar and Håkan Svenneling.

- Håkan Svenneling is a versatile and knowledgeable politician who knows a lot about rural issues. These are issues that we think are important and that have been forgotten, both in society at large and also in the Left Party, says district chairman Madeleine Nyvall.

MP Håkan Svenneling, 34, is a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee. Svenneling writes in a text message to TT that he does not yet want to know whether he is running for election.

"I am happy with the nomination but will not give any news today," Svenneling writes.

"Good future name"

Värmland also nominates Ali Esbati and Hanna Gedin, but both have in advance refused to stand in the election.

- Since it is an open nomination process until the nomination stop, we have nevertheless chosen to send a signal to the nomination committee on which names are good future names, says Nyvall.

Three districts nominated Nooshi Dadgostar, 34, for the party leadership post on Saturday. Skåne's chairman Umihana RasoviÄ ‡ says that the board made a unanimous decision to nominate Dadgostar.

- She has a long experience of our policy, and she is very skilled, both in debate and also when she informed about what we stand for, says RasoviÄ ‡.

"Very good in discussions"

The district boards of Örebro and Gävleborg also agreed to nominate the deputy party leader when they met on Saturday.

- She has been part of the successful leadership that has led us to the best opinion polls in almost 20 years, says Joel Nordkvist, district chair in Gävleborg.

Maria Odheim Nielsen, district chairman of the Left Party in Örebro, just as Umihana RasoviÄ ‡ raises Nooshi Dadgostar's debate technique.

- She may not have been so terribly visible as Jonas (Sjöstedt) fills the whole box, but she has been with us for a very long time and is very good at discussions, says Odheim Nielsen.

Only one candidate

The choice has come to deal more and more with only one candidate. Last to say no was Tamara Spiric, former municipal councilor in Umeå, who jumped off the race last Thursday.

The Left Party's district boards in Norrbotten, Västmanland and Södermanland early nominated the party's economic policy spokesperson Ulla Andersson, but she later announced that she was not running.

The Left Party elects a new chairman in conjunction with the congress in Västerås May 21-24, when Jonas Sjöstedt leaves his post.
