Reuters quoted Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Qatari Foreign Minister, as saying that efforts to resolve the crisis with Saudi Arabia and the UAE were unsuccessful and were suspended at the beginning of January.

The Qatari minister added - within the works of the Munich Security Forum - that Doha is not responsible for the failure of these efforts, and it is ready to resume the talks, and he stressed that the Middle East region needs a security agreement.

"We need more than ever a security agreement for the Middle East region, there are 42 million people who need help in our region and others are suffering from horror," he said.

The Qatari official added that his country "believes in the power of dialogue and commitment, and recently we witnessed a breakthrough in the ongoing peace talks in Afghanistan hosted by Doha for a period of time", noting that "despite geopolitical tensions, together we can settle in the Middle East through commitment and collective dialogue."

On Saturday, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoوlu said that the countries surrounding Qatar had promised Turkey to provide evidence of its accusations, but "until today we have received nothing."
