The National Ambulance CEO, Ahmed Saleh Al-Hajri, reported that the national ambulance handled 81,759 reports from residents in the northern regions, last year, at a rate of 224 daily reports, and provided medical care for 49 thousand emergency cases, and transferred 36 thousand and 850 cases to hospitals through Medically equipped compounds according to international standards.

Al-Hajri told Emirates Today that all cases were handled professionally, and responding to 74% of them required ambulance intervention, which is equivalent to 60,273 cases, indicating the success of the national ambulance in maintaining the average response time recorded in 2018, which is Eight minutes and 30 seconds.

He pointed out that traffic accident injuries constituted the largest percentage of the total communications that were responded to, recording 20%, then medical cases, and included feeling sick in the first place, then injuries and back and stomach pain, and finally falls.

Statistics issued by the National Ambulance revealed that the rate of communications increased by 10%, compared to 2018, which recorded the receipt of 74 thousand and 329 reports, noting that the rates of effective communications that were responded to increased by 12%, compared to 2018, which recorded the response to 53 thousand and 716 communications.

As for the percentage of reports that responded to it in terms of geographical distribution, it came with 47% in Sharjah, which is the largest percentage, followed by Ajman with 27%, then Ras Al Khaimah 17%, followed by Fujairah with 6%, and finally Umm Al Quwain with 3%.

Al-Hajri attributed the reasons for success to several factors, foremost of which is adopting a clear strategy to achieve excellence, employing modern technologies, investing in future technology, conducting medical research and studies, continuous performance review and evaluation processes, and continuous training and development for field cadres and crews, and providing them with the latest vehicles, equipment and first aid equipment.

He noted the support and follow-up of the leadership, and the support and cooperation of government agencies and strategic partners, including what contributed to strengthening the leadership position of the national ambulance in the ambulance system in the state.

Al-Hajri revealed that the number of national ambulance crews currently operating in the northern regions amounts to 478 ambulance crews, and 39 medical operations warden in the operating rooms, in addition to the administrative, technical and support personnel, and there are 50 emergency points distributed in the northern regions of the country, around the clock.
