February 15, 2020 Matteo Renzi will be out of Italy for a few days but has already indicated to his followers what the next party appointments will be. On the 20th he will gather Iv to talk about the shock plan on infrastructure, on the 27th he will launch an event on 'Just Justice' to return to the issue of prescription reform, on March 2 Iv will organize the general States of the economy. But it is another date already marked in red: the party's national assembly will be held on 22 February. On the same day that Zingaretti will meet the national assembly of the Democratic Party. And two days after the vote in the House on the Costa bill that aims to block the Bonafede reform. Formally it will be necessary to deal with the statutory obligations but it is for that occasion that the Renzians expect a move by their leader.

At the moment the 'refrain' of the Renzians is that it goes on. Convinced of their ideas on justice and on the need to restart the economy, perhaps putting aside the income of citizenship and aiming to unlock construction sites. But Renzi - explains a 'big' of the party - is increasingly skeptical about the fact that the Prime Minister may reverse the course of a country that is referred to as the black jersey in Europe on growth. The Renzians 'mantra' is that the legislature will continue until 2023, which will not be voted on earlier. But the thesis that is added is that another majority is possible. Maybe led by an institutional figure.

After all, even before leaving for Pakistan, Renzi did not hide his doubts about Conte. With the Renzians who do not consider positions in government at all. "Indeed, the distance has widened," confides a 'big' of Italy alive. Whether there will be a tear or not will be seen in Parliament. Because this is the place according to the premier where a government should be disheartened. And the Renzians aim not to provide pretexts. "But since they want to throw us out in case we adapt," the loyalists of the ex Prime Minister continue to say.

In any case, Iv's orientation is to vote on confidence in the House's Milleproroghe and in the Senate's wiretapping bill next week. But the Costa bill will also be voted together with FI. "Parliament is sovereign. I remember that the League and the Democratic Party voted together on the Tav", says an MP from Iv. But if the government considers the convergence in the Chamber between Iv and the center-right on the issue of justice a factor of crisis, the Renzians will draw the consequences. Everything is still in progress, but the relaxing signals arrived yesterday do not seem to be enough for a reconciliation. Despite the fact that in the Senate the president of the dem senators, Marcucci, today said that no new majority is being worked on. The attempt underway by some senators of the Democratic Party is to clear the ground at Palazzo Madama, even if the Nazarene party believes that at least half the Renzians may not follow their leader if they decide to snatch, for example by accelerating on the motion of distrust in Bonafede. While from the ranks of Iv he ensures that in the coming days there will be a couple of new entrances.

The mediators are also working on a compromise on the reform of the prescription, or to foresee its stop after the appeal sentence. But the climate remains tense. With some Renzians indicated as malpancisti - the names for example are those of Vono, Comincini, Parente - who have sworn they do not want to leave the group. In any case, the majority remains in the balance and it is not even possible to calculate the possible consequences of a formal break between Iv and the rest of the majority. The 5-star movement, for example, has made it known - reports a parliamentary source - that there would never be a government with Berlusconi. And Salvini has denied contacts with Renzi. The Democratic Party for its part continues to focus on Prime Minister Conte and to work on the agenda.

Then if there should be a break, it will evaluate what to do. With the awareness that the roads either lead to the vote or perhaps to a 'Conte ter' should the Prime Minister succeed in replacing the Renzians in the majority. At the moment the 'governors' are aiming to go straight. Going to see Renzi's cards. And counting as an alternative - if necessary - in some absence in the ranks of FI or in some more votes.
