After the explosions in recent years in the criminal context, it has been speculated that explosives may have been stolen from construction sites.

"Looking back over the last two years, it is mainly commercially produced dynamite explosives that we have seen that they have been used," says Jon Wåhlander, operational director of the national bomb protection.

A survey conducted by SVT News Skåne shows that 24 companies in Skåne are authorized to store explosives. It also turns out that the rescue service has not made any inspection visits to the companies neither in 2018 nor 2019.

Conscious Down Priority

After installation and approval of the safety lockers, where the explosive is stored, the emergency services do not carry out any on-the-spot checks.

"We do a very thorough check when we do our permit testing and then we direct our permit resources together with police and other authorities where we think we can access the illegal activities," says Rasmus Trymander, the rescue services south.

This means that companies can expect to be visited by the emergency services in connection with the renewal of the permits every six years.

In Kristianstad, however, the emergency services have planned to make a couple of supervision visits during the year together with MSB, the Swedish Agency for Social Protection and emergency preparedness.

Training in "bomb knowledge"

The South Rescue Service, which is responsible for the supervision in the Malmö area, has instead focused on the authority's joint supervision in other environments.

- We have received training from the national bomb shelter in how we can recognize thermos and special chemicals that can be used to make bombs, says Rasmus Trymander, the rescue service south.
