This is stated in a message published on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

It is noted that the parties discussed the situation in Syria "with emphasis on the need to ensure stability and security" on the ground "on the basis of respect for the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of the SAR and the fight against terrorists recognized as such by the UN Security Council."

They also considered the promotion of the political process in accordance with the provisions of UNSCR 2254, including the continuation of the work of the constitutional committee.

Earlier, during a meeting of the Russian delegation consisting of the President’s Special Representative for the Syrian Settlement, Alexander Lavrentyev, Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin and representatives of the Ministry of Defense with Syrian leader Bashar Assad, the importance of continuing the work of the SAR constitutional committee was noted.
