Benjamin Griveaux complained on Saturday 15 February for "invasion of privacy" and an investigation was opened after the dissemination of the intimate videos which led to his withdrawal from the race for mayor of Paris.

This complaint was filed at the premises of the regional directorate of the judicial police and the investigations were entrusted to the Brigade for the Suppression of Delinquency in the Person (BRDP), said an AFP source at the Paris prosecutor's office.

On LCI, Benjamin Griveaux's lawyer, Richard Malka, said that the complaint had been filed against X.

Piotr Pavlenski arrested

Piotr Pavlenski, the Russian artist who claims the dissemination of videos and exchanges of a sexual nature which led to the withdrawal of the candidate, was arrested the same day but in a different case.

The arrest took place as part of an open investigation into acts of willful violence with a weapon committed on the night of December 31, 2019 to January 1, 2020, said this source. He was placed in police custody.
