In connection with the prosecution being brought on Friday, prosecutors and police commented on the investigation without going into any details.

- As evidenced by the lawsuit, there is technical evidence, but there is also extensive evidence that will be presented during the trial. I do not want to anticipate what I will say during the case, says Åsa Hiding.

Missed probable cause

During the course of the investigation, the 45-year-old man who has been detained since mid-August 2019 has always been in focus. But at the beginning of the investigation he was released.

- The reason then was that the court did not consider that there were probable reasons. Since then, the investigation has continued and in August or early September the court made a different assessment and since then he has been detained, says Hiding.

The investigation has been going on for a long time, what is it that has taken so long?

- Partly because the technical investigation has been delayed when it comes to answers. This is partly because some of the answers come from the NFC here in Sweden, but also from the NFI, which is the Netherlands counterpart that has assisted when NFC's methods have not been sufficient, says Hiding.

Is there any further suspect in this case?

- No, it doesn't, says Åsa Hiding.

Other investigations have been affected

According to the police, between five and twenty persons must have worked on the investigation during the course of the investigation. However, other investigations should not have been taken away.

"But it is clear that other investigations have had to keep up with slightly fewer investigators for example and other things have taken longer," says Mikael Nykvist, criminal commissioner.
