In a short time, the call for the closure of night train traffic from Gothenburg to northern Sweden has collected over 31,000 signatures. Initiator Jakob Granqvist from Luleå believes that there is a "double talk" when it comes to the need for more people to take trains with regard to climate change.

- This fall, both Per Bolund's environmental party and Infrastructure Minister Tomas Eneroth talked about this. So it somehow becomes a strange double standard, says Jakob Granqvist.

Strong support

The protests are addressed to the Swedish Transport Administration, SJ and Infrastructure Minister Tomas Eneroth.

- I was not prepared for the support was so strong so I am very happy. Many people have been peppering me. It really feels like you have people with you in this.

Lighter by train

At the train station in Luleå, the night train from Gothenburg arrives just before lunch. We meet Alexandra who, together with children, rode the night train from Örebro.

-We have our grandmother up here and it's easier when you have toddlers to take the night train.

She supports the protests against the closure of the night train from Gothenburg

"Absolutely," she says without hesitation.
