The American Mikaela Shiffrin, who announced the death of her father last week, will not participate in the Alpine Ski World Cup events in Kranjska Gora (Slovenia) this weekend, her federation announced on Friday.

"As you can see, Mikaela Shiffrin is not on the racing table for tomorrow (...), to date we have no information on her return to Europe or to competition," said an American coach on the sidelines of the Kranjska Gora World Cup.

After announcing the sudden disappearance of her father Jeff (65) on February 3, Mikaela Shiffrin returned to Colorado for the funeral that took place last week, without specifying a date for returning to Europe where all the latest take place races of the season.

After missing Rosa Khutor's (Russia) weekend by choice in early February, she had already withdrawn in Garmisch (Germany) last weekend following the drama.

Triple title holder, Mikaela Shiffrin (24) is in the race for a new big crystal globe at the end of the season, but should see her 145-point lead again melt over her Italian pursuer Federica Brignone.
