"Fifty out of 400 graves have been degraded, over two thirds of the cemetery's surface," added the councilor. Bouquets of flowers were thrown, statuettes and vases broken, crosses turned upside down and some memorial plaques broken or moved between the graves, said Roger Ciurana.

An open investigation

"It is shocking for the families and for us, the elected officials," deplored the mayor of the city.

There was no attempt to open a tomb, nor any registrations, he said, adding that the investigation was carried out by the Prades Research Brigade, which is working on the file with the gendarmerie. from Bourg-Madame. "I tend to focus on the idea of ​​stupidity by young people," said Roger Ciurana.
