Arahamia clarified that his statements were misinterpreted and that he was forced to give such an answer by the wording of the presenter's question.

“I want to separately apologize to the citizens of Ukraine, immigrants, Crimeans, who could insult my words, even though they were taken out of the general context,” he added.

Earlier, Arahamia on television talked about a “compromise” to resolve the situation in southeastern Ukraine. According to him, an advantage in the negotiations could be obtained in exchange for supplying water to the Crimea.

The Kremlin responded by saying that proposals for additional water supply to Crimea on a commercial or other basis could be considered, but the peninsula “cannot be the subject of any exchange”.

As the press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov noted, Donbass is an internal Ukrainian problem, Moscow is doing everything possible to resolve it.

Crimea became the Russian region after a referendum held there in March 2014, in which most residents spoke out for reunification with Russia.
