Swedish drug policy has been debated more and more frequently in recent years. Recently, among other things, the Swedish Municipalities and Regions, SKR, proposed that the actual criminalization of their own use should be investigated - something a majority of the social committee also supported, according to a survey from SVT News.

And now all parties should have agreed on the requirement for an evaluation of Swedish drug policy. Exactly what it will mean, however, is not clear and since the issue of criminalization lies with the Justice Committee, this is not specifically mentioned in the document to which the eight parties in the Social Committee are expected to vote yes.

What has been agreed, however, is that they want to evaluate the policy in general and that the aim should be that the policy should be compatible with “evidence, proven care and harm minimization”.

It has also been agreed on a letter that aims to establish a zero vision of drug-related deaths.
