February 12, 2020 Multilateralism remains the only way to find solutions to the most problematic international situations. This was confirmed by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, during the talks at the Italian Embassy to the Holy See, on the occasion of the anniversary of the Lateran Pacts and the revision of the Concordat, in the presence of the Vatican Secretary of State, Pietro Parolin, of the Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, of representatives of the Italian institutions and government.

In particular, the Head of State stressed the need not to weaken the seats and forums of multilateral dialogue and therefore to strengthen international collaboration, the only key to overcoming contrasts, finding understandings and solving the most delicate international problems, starting with immigration and from the climatic emergency.

But with Parolin a 360-degree analysis was carried out, starting from the delicate situation in Libya, in the more general context of the issues affecting the entire African continent. Without forgetting, of course, an attention to the Middle East area and a particular emphasis linked to the defense of Christians from the persecutions they must undergo in different territories.

Parolin: great attention to family
"There is a specific attention of the Italian government for the family, especially for those in difficulty". The Vatican secretary of state, Pietro Parolin, said this at Palazzo Borromeo, at the end of the bilateral Italy-Holy See.

Count: deep-rooted relationships, continuous dialogue and consonance
"The relations between Italy and the Holy See are absolutely rooted. There is a constant and continuous dialogue and there is a great consonance". This was recorded by Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte at Palazzo Borromeo on the sidelines of the ceremony for the Lateran Pacts. "We greatly appreciate all the initiatives of the Holy See and the contribution of the Holy See in terms of human rights, the promotion of social justice," explained Conte.

"The CEI and the world of Catholic associations offer a great contribution to social inclusion and this is a due and much felt recognition that the government makes to the Church. As regards international issues, there is a common sensitivity that comes from an approach very similar in discussions on the international political level ", the Prime Minister once again noted. Among the topics addressed, he further detailed the situation in Libya, Syria, South Sudan, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, the Horn of Africa, the EU, North Macedonia and Albania.

Count to Bari for meeting on peace in the Mediterranean
Conte will be in Bari for the meeting organized by the CEI 'Mediterraneo, frontier of peace'. He confirmed it himself. The meeting is held from 19 to 23 February, but the premier has not specified on what day he will be present.
