Lebanese President Michel Aoun stressed Lebanon's recovery and leadership after addressing the causes of the current crisis, pointing out that resolving the financial and economic crises requires harsh measures for the Lebanese, and added that the citizens ’resort to withdraw their deposits due to their fear for them, has exacerbated the banking crisis in the country, He called on the Lebanese people to sacrifice a little so that they do not lose much.

Aoun said, during his reception yesterday, at the Baabda Palace, the Consul General of Singapore in Lebanon, Joseph Habis, at the head of a delegation of honorary consuls, that “a new stage began after the government gained confidence, in light of the crises that Lebanon is experiencing, especially financial and economic ones, which are They can no longer be solved easily, and now require relatively harsh measures for the Lebanese, which requires the necessary awareness to be achieved. ”

The President of the Republic continued: “We are all responsible for educating the citizens, especially in light of what we are witnessing from the demonstrators generalizing the character of corruption to all officials.” He pointed out that “a large part of the demonstrators has become a radical team that rejects any proposal, so that we have not come to know with it what He will ask for it yet, and he may not like any of the measures the government will take. ”

President Aoun reaffirmed “the burden that Lebanon is incurring as a result of the Syrian displacement, which has so far reached about $ 25 billion, according to figures from the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.”

This comes at a time when a government source said that Lebanon will ask the International Monetary Fund for technical assistance to develop a plan to stabilize its financial and economic crises, including how to restructure its public debt.
