It is a day that means a lot to homeless people who get a chance to have their pets examined for free once a year. There may be around 50 pets, more dogs than cats, but with one thing in common: This means that the animals are given a review that might not have been otherwise.

"This is Dixie, seven years," says Daniel Deak, fact salesman. Her landlady is in jail and I have promised to look after her. Never have I received as much love as I get from Dixie. She is constantly kissing me.

"Never could have afforded"

Chihuahuan curiously runs around on the floor and smells around. She seems to be happy and during the examination of the veterinarian Emma Lindblad Åström she only protests a little. Dixie has problems with his teeth and today it may be that a tooth will be removed.

- The fact that this day is free means everything to me, really everything, says Daniel Deak. I go on social assistance and had never been able to afford such a study and surgery.
