Yesterday, the death toll from the emerging corona virus in China exceeded 1,100, and although the World Health Organization warned that the virus was a "very serious threat", the number of new daily infections decreased.

And still 99.9% of deaths recorded in the world, in mainland China (with the exception of Hong Kong and Macao), where the disease appeared, in December, in the large city (Wuhan) (center). The Chinese health authorities announced that the virus, which the World Health Organization called "Covid-19", caused 1113 deaths. There are 44,653 cases currently registered in mainland China.

In an encouraging sign, the number of daily new cases decreased yesterday (2015) significantly, compared to the day before yesterday (2478), and the last two (3062), according to the National Health Committee. The number of new cases (97) marks the first decline in the daily average since February 2. Beijing had reported 108 deaths, Tuesday.

The authorities announced a new epicenter of infections in the northern city of Tianjin, where 39 people were injured in one mall, according to the news agency. The first case appeared in an employee who was diagnosed with the disease on January 31. More than 400 cases have been registered in about 30 countries or regions.

Outside mainland China, the virus has so far only killed two people, one in the Philippines and one in Hong Kong, and in both cases they were Chinese citizens.

In Japan, the situation on the cruise ship "Diamond Princess", which was imposed on quarantine near Yokohama (east), worsened, as the number of injuries reached 174. There are 39 new patients, including the quarantine operations officer, as announced yesterday. The new Corona virus is a cause of concern in the European Union, with several cases reported in Germany (16), France (11) and Italy (three). Today, European health ministers are meeting in Brussels to discuss the issue. A British case, in particular, has attracted attention in the past few days, as it was cured of the disease after it contracted the virus in Singapore and transferred it to a number of its citizens during a visit to France.
