The collaboration between Västerås and Jinan: So it went - and so it went

Since 2015, the city of Västerås has entered into a collaboration with the city of Jinan in China. The purpose of the collaboration was to develop the business community and share knowledge about the resident dialogue between the city and residents.

The first project was a feasibility study that took place between 2015 and 2018, where the municipality was awarded a grant from the International Center for Local Democracy (ICLD). The cities he meets six times, three times in each city. According to the City of Västerås, these were opportunities to share ideas about the project and how it developed in each city.

The City of Västerås sought additional funds to develop the project between 2019 and 2021, which ICLD granted.

The cooperation took a turn in 2020. During the municipal council meeting in January, the municipal council decided that the cooperation should be terminated.

- I am satisfied with what we have achieved. It was a year and I feel that we achieved many things in a short time, says Tina Bohman Peters, developer at Västerås city and project manager during the collaboration.
