Welsh opener Owen Williams is out for the rest of the Six Nations due to a hamstring injury, his Federation announced on Tuesday.

Williams, 27, will therefore miss the reception of the XV de France on February 22 in Cardiff. The Gloucester player, who can also hold the position of first center, was injured during the warm-up before the defeat against Ireland (24-14) Saturday in Dublin.

"Further examinations have concluded that Williams' injury will keep him off the field for the rest of the tournament," said the Federation in a statement.

Owen Williams has a dark streak, having just returned from a 9-month absence from a knee injury. He was part of the Welsh group as a substitute for the usual titular Dan Biggar, and it was Jarrod Evans who took his place on the sidelines against Ireland, before entering the game in place of Biggar, injured in the head in the 2nd period.

The injury to Williams, who has three caps with Wales, is also a big blow to his club Gloucester, who already lost their regular opener Danny Cipriani for two months after a calf injury in mid-January.
