The Minister of Health and Community Protection Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al Owais confirmed that the UAE, under the guidance of the rational leadership, was among the first countries to receive appropriate quantities of requirements for advanced testing to detect the new Corona virus, with a view to ensuring the safety of the Emirati community, where more than 500 employees conduct communication and medical investigations And logistical support around the clock.

In a briefing to the members of the Federal National Council on the emerging Corona virus during the fourth session of the first round of the seventeenth legislative term, the Minister of Health and Community Protection said that after the announcement of the spread of the virus in China, very early on, thermal detection devices were circulated to the country's ports and airports, in addition to taking All necessary precautions in accordance with the protocols and practices approved by the World Health Organization.

Al Owais noted that the UAE has a strategic stock of basic medical supplies, such as surgical masks, medical gloves, protective glasses and protective clothing, in addition to the fact that many factories located within the country manufacture these supplies in accordance with the highest international standards.

The Minister of Health and Community Protection Abdul Rahman bin Muhammad Al Owais said that the incubation period approved by the World Health Organization is from one to 11 days, with some exceptions in which the period may increase to 16 days, pointing out that all cases of injured people in the Emirates are stable and there is one case She recovered and developed for the better, confirming that all contacts and places visited by the discovered cases had been reached, and that all necessary examinations were taken to ensure that no infection was transmitted to any of the contacts.

Al-Owais said that the readiness of medical facilities in the governmental and private sectors has been raised, as prepared isolation rooms have been allocated, and the readiness of qualified laboratories to perform viral checks in government institutions and the provision of personal protective supplies against infectious diseases have been raised for health care providers, and the state of readiness has been raised in all state airports and companies National aviation where medical teams and thermal detection devices are present in airports, in addition to carrying out the process of evacuating state citizens from affected areas immediately after the issuance of the decision.

Al-Owais discussed during the briefing the measures taken by the country to deal with the Corona virus, including activating the National Operations Center, continuous coordination with the World Health Organization, research and communication centers, and continuous coordination through official channels with the Chinese government to assess the risks.

The Minister of Health and Community Protection stressed that there is a great praise from the World Health Organization and the Arab and regional center for the UAE’s dealings with the detected cases as well as for transparency and dealing with this virus, as the UAE has designated a center for communication in the Chinese language to inquire about the disease and report the suspected cases.

He pointed out that the UAE is constantly coordinating with the World Health Organization to find out the latest developments in this regard, and that the country will participate in an international meeting to discuss the developments of the new Corona virus, as it succeeded in treating one of the cases and recovering from the virus.
