Taliban political bureau spokesman Suhail Shaheen said that members of the Taliban negotiating team discussed with the US envoy to Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad and Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Muhammad bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, describing the mission as important.

Shaheen added in a tweet on Twitter that the meetings focused on the results of the talks between Washington and the Taliban during previous rounds and future steps, but he did not disclose the nature of these steps.

In a related context, Zamir Kabulov, the Russian special envoy to Afghanistan, expressed the hope of his country in the signing of Washington and the Taliban peace agreement soon.

Kabulov said peace talks were continuing between the United States and the Taliban, adding, "According to our information, the two sides have not yet agreed on some terms of the agreement."

He stated that the planned agreement should constitute the legal basis for the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan and the start of peace talks between the various parties in the country.

US President Donald Trump had suspended peace negotiations between the United States and the Taliban after a Taliban bombing attack on US soldiers in Afghanistan on September 5.

The representatives of the United States and the Taliban began direct negotiations more than a year ago, in an attempt to find a political solution to end the ongoing conflict in Afghanistan, and the two sides have participated so far in 11 rounds of peace talks.
