Three years ago, President Vladimir Putin signed a law on milder punishment for those who practice domestic violence - a law that was a kind of decriminalization of violence within the four walls of the home. SVT's Russia correspondent Bert Sundström has met women who work against the violence, both in Moscow and in the Caucasus in southern Russia.
Women's trafficking is something that people do not like to talk about openly in Russia and there are no reliable statistics. But three Russian magazines working on a project on women's abuse in Russia have found that 35 percent of all Russian women have been abused by their men.
