"Birds of Prey", a film inspired by the DC Comics universe with Margot Robbie headlining, took first place in the North American box office for its release, according to final figures published on Monday by the specialized company Exhibitor Relations.

Titled, in its long version, "Birds of Prey and the fantastical story of Harley Quinn", this spin-off of "Suicide Squad" (2016) raised $ 33 million from Friday to Sunday in the dark rooms of the United States and Canada.

It was a relatively disappointing start, however, for a superhero film.

Colorful, he is interested in Harley Quinn, who wants to enjoy his new freedom after leaving his boyfriend the Joker, struggling with the evil Black Mask / Roman Sionis, played by Ewan McGregor.

The film by the young Chinese-American director Cathy Yan dethrones the "Bad Boys" Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, relegated to second position.

"Bad Boys for Life", the third installment of the famous police saga tinged with humor, earned $ 12 million in three days (166 million in four weeks).

The spectacular British war film Sam Mendes, "1917", came in third place. He ultimately did not win an Oscar in major categories on Sunday night but still raised his income by $ 9.2 million while he was rolling out the red carpet in Hollywood, raising a total of nearly $ 133 million in seven weeks.

At the foot of the podium is his 6.5 million dollars over the weekend (63.8 million dollars in four weeks), "The Voyage of Dr. Dolittle", the story of this veterinarian capable of communicating with animals, embodied in this version by Robert Downey Jr.

Fifth, "Jumanji: next level" is approaching, thanks to an additional 5.6 million dollars, the 300 million dollars mark in North America, since it was released there more than two months ago .

Here's the rest of the Top 10:
