Valknaz told «Emirates Today» that her question aims to allow the Ministry of Health and Community Protection to review the efforts and preventive measures that it is taking inside the country to deal with epidemics and highly dangerous infectious diseases, especially in light of the suffering the entire world suffers from the spread of Corona virus.

"Once the ministry announced cases of corona infection within the state, questions were raised between citizens and residents about the procedures for government dealing with such epidemics, how to prevent their infiltration through the country's outlets, mechanisms to control them and plans to control them in relation to the cases that were monitored and treated," she said.

Valknaz confirmed that the Ministry of Health and Community Protection's announcement, recently, of the recovery of the first case of infection detected in the country, enhances full confidence in the ministry's handling of the matter, and reflects the state's readiness and ability to cope with any urgent matters.

In the item of draft laws received from the committees, the Council will discuss a federal draft law on biosafety from genetically modified organisms and their products, which includes 28 articles, aimed at preserving human health from the risks of genetically modified organisms or their products.

According to a report prepared by the Council's Health and Environmental Affairs Committee, the draft law is a proactive step to confront any developments that appear on genetically modified organisms and their products, in order to prove their risk to human health, society and the environment in the future, by setting up procedures for the import of genetically modified organisms.

The report stated that the draft law focuses on main objectives: to preserve human health, and to ensure environmental protection in the area of ​​developing, manufacturing, producing, transferring or circulating these organisms or their products arising from modern biotechnology, and to ensure control, reduction, cancellation or treatment of damages that are They occur or are likely to occur, and the conservation of local genetic resources and biological diversity from the risks of release or introduction of genetically modified organisms or their products into the environment.
