The incident occurred on December 19, on the route between Jönköping and Mariestad.

According to the prosecutor, the six defendants followed the truck when it left the Elgiganten central warehouse in Jönköping. One of them must have driven a van, where the seats were removed to make room for the theft. The others must have driven in a passenger car.

Threw out the goods

While driving, the Mercedes drove up just behind the truck. Two of the thieves crawled out of the roof hatch and proceeded to the car's bonnet, from where they opened the rear of the trailer with an angle grinder and bumper. Then they started throwing out goods at full speed. While the journey continued at high speed.

But the driver of the truck had become suspicious when she saw that two cars followed her closely for a long time, eventually alerting the police. As a police patrol approached, the cars quickly disappeared in different directions, but both were later found.

High value

Before the theft was discovered and interrupted, the suspects must have come across four speakers, a TV and a part for an air heat pump for a total value of close to SEK 80,000.

The evidence includes images from surveillance cameras and testimonials. The crime classification is gross theft. The prosecutor claims that the cars are forfeited and that all six suspects are expelled from Sweden and are prohibited from returning for five years.
