Sea trips despite the Ciara storm and the multiple calls for caution. The SNSM volunteer sea rescuers in Calais, in the Pas-de-Calais region, denounced this Sunday “unconscious” behavior on the part of “windsurfers and board sports enthusiasts”.

"Ignoring the calls for caution, windsurfers and board sports enthusiasts decided to challenge the elements and went out to sea, deplores, in a press release, the antenna of Calais of the National Society for Sea Rescue (lifeboat). This was noted in particular at Wimereux, this Sunday morning, where many windsurfers indulged in their favorite sport.

"Strong winds" and "wave-submersion"

The SNSM also regrets that the bad weather attracts many people "on the beaches and the coastal sector to attend" the spectacle "".

According to Météo-France, on Sunday, the gusts of wind could reach "110 to 140 km / h over the coastal regions". Forty-two departments in the northern half of France have been placed on orange alert “strong winds” and “wave-submersion”.

On the coast, several prefectures, including those of the North, Pas-de-Calais and even the Somme have broadcast prevention messages since Friday, calling for "not to walk by the sea" or "not to practice nautical activity ”.

In June 2019, three SNSM rescuers were killed while trying to assist a fishing boat during a storm.
