As specified, Zarif confirmed Tehran’s readiness to cooperate on the issue of a Syrian settlement.

Pedersen, in turn, shared his views on the political processes in Syria and other issues of mutual interest with the Iranian minister.

Earlier, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that Tehran intends to develop relations with Damascus.

In January, a senior Syrian government delegation arrived in Tehran to discuss the situation in the region.

The delegation was headed by the Prime Minister of the SAR, Imad Khamis, also included the Syrian Foreign Minister Valid Muallem and Defense Minister Ali Abdullah Ayyub.
