"President Trump stopped my candidacy six months ago, and when this happened, he said that he would like me to do everything in my power to try to improve relations between the United States and Russia," he said in an interview RBC.
According to Sullivan, relations between the countries have been experiencing a particularly difficult period over the past six to seven years.
“Therefore, my task is to do everything possible to improve them,” the ambassador said.
Earlier, Sullivan met with the Secretary of the Security Council of Russia Nikolai Patrushev and the head of the Accounts Chamber Alexei Kudrin.
