Two days after he was acquitted in the Senate of the two charges against him by the House of Representatives with the intention of removing him from his post, US President Donald Trump dismissed two testimonies and an army officer who gave two testimonies considered essential in building the indictment against him, in a move that the Republican opponents put in the "retaliation" field .

Hours after Lieutenant-Colonel Alexander Vendemann was expelled from the White House where he worked on the National Security Council, according to what his lawyer announced, Trump sacked the US ambassador to the European Union, Gordon Soundland, according to what the latter announced.

"I have been informed that the President intends to summon me immediately from the position of United States Ambassador to the European Union," Sunland said, according to a number of media outlets, including the New York Times, as saying.

The ambassador's statement came shortly after the announcement by David Pressman, the attorney for the US Army Lieutenant-Colonel Alexander Vendemann, that his client was fired from his work in the White House.

Trump's Democratic opponents were quick to condemn the dismissal of these two officials, considering them to be victims of "retaliatory measures" on the part of the president.

Rep. Marc Dessoulnier wrote in a tweet on social networking site "Twitter" that "Ambassador Sundland and Lieutenant-Colonel Alexander Vendemann are brave, false and patriotic public officials."

He added: "Trump's revenge against them for saying the truth is an act that is not the president of the largest democracy in the world."

Last Wednesday, the Republican-controlled Senate cleared Trump of two charges of abuse of power and obstructing the work of Congress directed by the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives.

The US ambassador to Brussels had made a million dollars in contributions to the Trump inauguration ceremony, which he then appointed as the European Union ambassador.

However, on November 20, Soundland indicated that Trump was directly involved in a plot to force Ukraine to open an investigation into Vice President Joe Biden, the front-runner to win the Democratic nomination card for the upcoming presidential election against the Republican president.
