Despite the horrific horror of his crime, the Thai soldier who committed a massacre in the northeastern city of Korat in Thailand, with a great deal of nerves, was allowed to appear with his machine gun completely coherent inside the mall that he took refuge in during the operation.

In addition to broadcasting part of his bloody attack on the social networking site Facebook and publishing his image with his weapon, surveillance cameras showed the soldier Jacabant Toma walking in the corridors of the city's commercial center, carrying the machine gun that carried out his crime.

The soldier also posted pictures of him on Facebook, and wrote several posts on his page, including "Do I have to give up?" And "No one can escape death."

A video broadcast on Facebook showed up and was later deleted. The soldier says, wearing an army helmet in an open jeep,: "I am tired (...) I cannot lift my finger," and then moves his finger as if he was pulling the trigger.

In the latest death toll, a Thai defense ministry spokesman told Reuters that the soldier had killed at least 20 people.

The spokesman, Kongship Tantrawanit, did not reveal the number of the injured, adding that it was not yet clear whether the soldier had taken hostages inside the mall, where he is believed to be still at large.

A live broadcast of the local "Amarin" television network showed that dozens of people fled the shopping center where the deadly soldier took shelter.

People went out in groups, some carrying children, while others helped the elderly out of the place.

It was not known what caused the soldier to kill his commander and soldiers with him before moving to the commercial center to kill and injure everyone who came across him.

While the soldier's motives were not clear, whether they were personal or linked to a terrorist organization or other causes,
Shortly after the attack, local media began detailing the tragic incident that rocked Thailand.

"The massacre started when the bomber stole weapons and ammunition, and his commander and two others were shot dead in the army's Surathamtak camp, before he escaped in a Humvee," the Bangkok Post reported.

Along the road to the "Terminal 21" shopping center in Muang District, the soldier shot civilians.

"The gunman used a submachine gun, and shot innocent victims, resulting in many deaths and injuries," said police spokesman Chrisana Pattanakron.

Local media showed a video of the soldier exiting the car in front of the mall at around 6 pm local time, firing a number of shots, and people rushed to try to take shelter from the bullets.

The attacker then fired at the cooking gas cylinder, which resulted in an explosion and fire. The video clips showed people running and rushing behind the cars. Unconfirmed reports said the soldier was in possession of grenades.

The authorities sent special forces to the mall, where the attacker was said to be holding 16 hostages on the fourth floor.

A crime-fighting police commando was also seen at the scene, and the police were trying to move the soldier's mother to the scene, in the hope that she could persuade him to surrender.

Reuters witnesses said they heard gunshots from automatic rifles in the early hours of Sunday morning, local time, at the mall, where the soldier was holed up.

The army has asked the media to stop live coverage to avoid giving suspects information about what is happening.
