Angela Merkel fired a member of her government and her own party on Saturday following the national scandal caused by an unprecedented alliance between regional right-wing moderate and far-right politicians.

Christian Hirte was pushed to the end after ostensibly congratulating himself, in a message published on Twitter, on the very controversial election this week of a new leader for the regional state of Thuringia thanks to the united voices of the Democratic Party- Christian CDU of the German Chancellor and those of the alternative anti-migrant party for Germany (AfD).

"The Chancellor today proposed to the Federal President the dismissal of Secretary of State Christian Hirte," Angela Merkel spokesman Steffen Seibert said in a terse statement. Christian Hirte was previously Secretary of State at the Ministry of Economy and Energy and, as such, government commissioner for regional states in eastern Germany, responsible for coordinating federal policy for support these territories, which are still economically behind the west of the country.

“The chancellor informed me during an interview that I could no longer be a government commissioner. At his request, I therefore asked to be removed from office, "said on Twitter the person, who has been under fire from critics for several days. Angela Merkel's conservative social democratic partner in government in Berlin had claimed his head, saying he was "no longer tenable."

The election of Thuringia created an earthquake in the country because it broke a political taboo in German post-war history: the rejection of the moderate right from any alliance with the extreme right. The elected representatives of the regional state have freed themselves from this instruction, an act considered "unforgivable" by Angela Merkel.
