The Popular Party wants to avoid the recurrence of events such as those that have been happening in Mallorca and that EL MUNDO has revealed, in which girls supervised in shelters of the Government of the island have been prostituted and victims of sexual abuse.

The Popular Party has been a proposition of law in Congress that claims to be adopted with the utmost urgency the Law on Protection against Violence Against Children which was aborted in order legislature Mariano Rajoy.

In addition, it proposes to develop all the measures planned against trafficking in women and girls in the State Pact against Gender Violence of 2017 that supported all parties except Podemos.

The popular consider the events that have been uncovered since the rape of a minor in Palma last Christmas Eve very serious. That event uncovered a plot in which violations and abuses have been reported against at least 16 minors who are in centers supervised by the Mallorquin Institute of Social Affairs (IMAS). According to the workers of this organization, these abuses have been reflected in reports sent to the top officials of the IMAS, which has under its guardianship more than 300 minors, without having opened an exhaustive investigation.

The initiative registered by the popular also proposes to review and update the protocols of the Children's Observatory to avoid situations of prostitution and drug trafficking that affect minors.

The PP also wants Congress to approve the facilitation of reporting channels, adapting them to minor victims. And that specialized training in minors who receive judges and prosecutors be improved, taking into account the new risks of accessing internet content and the use of social networks in personal relationships from a very young age.

All these measures have meant "important advances" to fight against situations such as those reported in Mallorca. Therefore, the Popular Party will defend in the Congress of Deputies that are applied in an integral way to make it more difficult for events like these to be repeated.

In the Balearic Parliament , on the other hand, the Board of Spokespersons admitted on Wednesday for the creation of an investigation commission on cases of sexual exploitation of minors protected by the insular Government of Mallorca. The PSOE, which holds the Presidency of the Island Government of Mallorca, has announced that it will vote against the creation of this commission, which will not prosper.
