“Our opinion is clearly in favor of increasing fines. A fine of 250 rubles for speeding taking into account a 50% discount is not a barrage measure, which should be a fine for a violation, ”Shahbazyan quotes TASS.

According to him, "an increase in fines is necessary." He said that he had read the draft Code of Administrative Offenses, and agreed with the proposed amounts of fines.

“A fine of 5 thousand is not a horse measure for speeding, if we talk about increasing speed by 20-60 km / h,” he said.

According to Shahbazyan, it is difficult for him to imagine a driver who accidentally exceeds the speed by 60 km / h.

“This is a direct threat to the safety of residents. Therefore, we agree with such measures, and my personal opinion is that even a fine of 5 thousand rubles for speeding at 60 km / h is not enough, ”he added.

In late January, the Justice Ministry published a new edition of the Code of Administrative Offenses, which proposes to increase the fine for speeding.

So, a fine for exceeding speed by 20–40 km / h rises from 500 rubles to 3 thousand rubles, for exceeding speed by 40–60 km / h a fine of 4 thousand rubles is supposed to be made, more than 60 km / h - 5 thousand rubles or deprivation of rights.

In the State Duma, commenting on the proposal of the Ministry of Justice to toughen the punishment for violating traffic rules, they stated inconsistencies and contradictions in the draft of the new Code of Administrative Offenses.

As Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin emphasized, the proposed fines for motorists are excessive for citizens.

The Justice Ministry said that the draft of the new Code of Administrative Offenses will be finalized taking into account public opinion.
