As noted in the government, work on the draft law is being completed, after agreement with the presidential administration, it will be sent to the State Duma.
“We want to close this issue in the spring session, so that everyone can become citizens of Russia. Accordingly, what will Russia do? She will protect her citizens, ”said Vice-Speaker of the State Duma Pyotr Tolstoy.
According to the newspaper, the working group on the implementation of the Concept of State Migration Policy includes representatives of various departments and parliamentarians.
It was created in March 2019 by an order of the president. The main task is to attract as many new citizens as possible to Russia.
In autumn 2019, the head of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and the Affairs of Compatriots Leonid Kalashnikov, who is a member of the working group, said that the government will introduce a bill on simplified citizenship, which requires the abolition of the requirement to renounce the citizenship of another country.
The parliamentarian called the project a revolutionary in the field of citizenship.
