A high-speed train that covered the Bologna-Milan route (northern Italy), derailed on Thursday leaving two dead and about thirty injured, the Italian Civil Protection reported.

According to this same source, the deceased are the two train drivers , who derailed near the city of Casalpusterlengo , in the province of Lodi, for reasons that are still unknown.

Thirty injured, of a mild nature, have been transferred to hospitals in the area.

The locomotive and two other train cars, model Frecciarossa 9595 , overturned as a result of the accident, which took place at 5.30 am in the morning.

The State Railways company reported that all trains that passed through that route have been diverted and therefore delays of up to an hour will occur.
