Medical sources and eyewitnesses in Najaf Governorate (south of Baghdad) said that seven protesters were killed and more than seventy, most of them demonstrators, were wounded in clashes that took place on Wednesday evening, when an armed group attacked the protest center in the city center. It was reported that eight people had been killed and 113 wounded.

The sources added that the clashes erupted when groups of the so-called "blue hats" of the Sadrist movement, led by Muqtada al-Sadr, tried to storm the square that represents the protest center in Najaf, which prompted the protesters to confront them, and this led to confrontations in which live fire took place. And Molotov cocktails, caused by a large number of demonstrators.


The sources said that these groups were able to completely control the protest square, after the protesters were expelled from it.
