Doctors who specialize in chest diseases and public health have called for the practice of suspending habits that include different types of contact, such as shaking hands and "scratching", to be completed until the flu season and the spread of the Corona virus globally.

They remind people who initiate these habits, despite knowing in advance of a respiratory infection, with moral responsibility towards others. They assured «Emirates Today» that people with cold and flu symptoms should stay away from places of human gatherings, and avoid crowded closed areas, in order to prevent the transmission of infection to the people in it, and they also demanded that influenza patients stay in their homes during the treatment period.

They said that sick and healthy people should always wash hands with soap and water, to ensure that the virus does not spread from person to person.

In detail, the consultant chest specialist at the Emirates Medical Association, Dr. Bassam Mahboub, stressed the necessity of avoiding the habits of handshaking, grafting and peace by kissing during the period of spreading viruses, in general, in order to avoid transmitting the infection to others.

He added, "These behaviors are very important in our society, because they involve many fraternal meanings and positive social values, but it is best to avoid them in times of anxiety or fear of spreading the infection, while making sure to wash hands with soap and water constantly."

Mahboob warned people who suffer from the symptoms of any respiratory infection from mixing with others, and holding them morally responsible for the harm they might cause them, indicating that some countries hold them responsible, too, because of their intentional harm to others.

The family medicine specialist at the Dubai Health Authority, Dr. Nada Al-Mulla, said that society members should understand the reasons for refraining from habits such as fraying and shaking hands during the flu season, and even declaring the elimination of the Corona virus globally, pointing out that «the measure is preventive, as it aims to reduce The spread of infectious diseases that affect the respiratory system in general, and not less than we welcome them. ”

And she continued: «In the event of shaking hands, it is advisable to cleanse the hands constantly, and avoid contact with the mouth and eye, in order to prevent the transmission of any infection.

She called on Mulla to stay away from people with respiratory diseases, and not to mix with them, to avoid transmission.

He urged the chest consultant, Dr. Jamal Abdul-Razzaq, to ​​wear masks in gathering places, and to make sure to use antiseptics constantly.

He added that «people who suffer from colds, colds, fever, and pharyngitis, must adhere to their homes until they fully recover».

And the chest consultant at Al-Zahra Hospital in Dubai, Dr. Sharif Fayed, warned about the customs of brutality, handshaking, and peace with kisses during these days, as a precaution.

He said that it is only possible to make peace with a handshake, provided that the hand is washed with soap, water or disinfectant afterwards, while the habitat is more dangerous, resulting in contact between the two people, and the possibility of direct injury increases if one of the people has a respiratory disease.

Sneezing spray 15 meters

The chest consultant at Al-Zahra Hospital, Dr. Sharif Fayed, stressed the necessity of avoiding people with direct sneezing, as the spray arrives loaded with viruses, and in some cases it can cover a distance between 10 and 15 meters, depending on the weight of the virus.

In the event of shaking hands, it is advisable to constantly cleanse the hands and avoid contact with the mouth and eyes.
