Victim of school harassment in primary school when he is disabled, Anne's son tried to kill himself. Despite multiple requests to change schools, nothing has been done. Anne confides in Europe 1 to Olivier Delacroix about the pain experienced by her bruised son.

TESTIMONY

The primary education of Anne's children was disrupted by violent school bullying, particularly against her older son, with a disability. The violence of this harassment was such that it led the child to make a suicide attempt. Anne confides in Olivier Delacroix at the microphone of "La Libre antenne" on Europe 1 on what her son suffered, as well as on how the school denied the problem by removing the child.

"We have three children, two of whom have autistic disabilities and attention problems. We made the choice to change their school in September 2018. When we arrived at this new school, they were taken to part, especially the elder who arrived in CM2 and who was the victim of mockery, insults, even death threats. It went very far because he attempted suicide in April 2019.

Heard on europe1:

" He was treated as a rat face all year round "

When he was sick, he would come back the next day and we would take him to task, saying to him: 'We were hoping that you wouldn't come back! We wanted you to be dead! Go kill yourself! '. It was such a surge. Luckily, he told us about it and we tried to do our best to sift it out. But that did not change anything and lasted until he was removed from school.

As of September 2018, we noticed a change in behavior in our children which put us in the ear. They became aggressive, insulting. They were nightmares, screams. The situation had changed and was not normal. We are lucky to have children who speak very easily. The elder told us what was going on down to the last detail. He was coming back from school saying that he had been beaten and insulted. He was treated as a 'rat face' all year round. He was the head of the Turkish class.

" Our child has attempted suicide "

We first met the teacher, then the director. Nothing changed, so we went up to the level of the district, so the academic inspector, the mayor of our town, the rectorate and the harassment referent service. Unfortunately, nothing has changed. We asked for a first change of school in October, then a second one in December 2018, which were not granted. In January 2019, we re-requested a change of school by sounding the alarm, because the physical and mental health of the elder was very degraded. Then in April 2019, our child attempted suicide.

We went to file a complaint with the gendarmerie which dissuaded us from doing so, saying to us: "What do you want us to do with ten-year-old children?" We have therefore deposited a handrail which will not be of much use. Regarding the school, a procedure is underway with two lawyers, it will certainly take time.

" Why wait for a suicide attempt to change a child's school? "

Following this suicide attempt, a meeting was organized at the school with the director, the inspector of national education, the educator, the psychologist, as well as the parents of the child at the origin. harassment. This meeting took place a week after the suicide attempt of our child, in his presence. He had to return to this school, to face the girl who was the initiator of the harassment. During this round table, we were given to understand that it was up to our son to change schools, when he had been asked for months. Why wait for a suicide attempt to change a child's school?

The little girl's parents were completely in denial. According to them, it was not possible that their daughter could have done that. For us, it was a double slap. Our child cried all the tears in his body. Me, as a mom, I was unable to pick up a word, I was so shocked and outraged by the attitude of the adults and this little girl who were in front of us and who had a sly laugh.

" It is up to the victim to leave and above all to be silent "

On the management side, we felt no kindness. We were annoyed because we wanted to raise problems of harassment, harassment of a child with a disability, moreover. It was up to us to leave because we were disturbing them. Three days after this meeting, in the bag of our cadet who was still enrolled in this school, we received the belongings of our elder with a radiation certificate. Our child was expelled from school. In the majority of cases, it is up to the victim to leave and above all to be silent. We are trying to oust people who dare to point out dysfunctions, and there are indeed dysfunctions in the National Education concerning the harassment and inclusion of different children.

On the eve of the school holidays, that is to say in July 2019, we learned that the National Education Inspector and the school where the harassment had occurred, had sent worrying information to child welfare. A social worker arrived because of abusive information, because of the slanderous remarks of this school which wanted at all costs to cover itself. In this disturbing information, it was written that our child has psychological problems and that it was not the school's fault if he had been harassed, but the parents' fault.

" Our son wouldn't be here if he hadn't spoken "

Today he is in a wonderful college who is aware of the situation. We told our story to the director who took him under his wing. Fortunately there are good establishments. Today he is doing well, even very well. It is obviously always followed closely by a psychologist every week, as well as a psychomotrician. The hardest phase has passed, but it was six complicated months. He has a bitterness and some flashbacks. In our misfortune, we were lucky to have been able to listen and accompany our son. Our son wouldn't be here if he hadn't spoken. "
