He will soon be summoned to the Rodez court. A 23-year-old man was arrested after using counterfeit banknotes in a business in Villefranche-de-Rouergue, reports the gendarmerie of Aveyron.
First, the scam, which has spread in France since last year, had worked: the Villefranchois had managed to buy a baguette with a cut of 10 euros of the "movie money" type, used as its name suggests on film shoots.
A special felt tip to confuse the con artist
But the young man was confused when he returned shortly after in the same shop, to exchange other counterfeit 10-euro notes for real 20-euro ones. The seller took the time to use a special felt and realized the deception. The suspect then simply snatched the 20-euro notes from the victim's hands and then fled.
Not very far or very long, especially since the young man was already known to the gendarmerie of the Rouergate city.
