In December, the first alarms came out of the new corona virus in the Chinese city of Wuhan, in Hubei province. Since then, the disease has spread to several other countries, but the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs currently only recommends trips to Hubei province in China.

Can't get the money back

Travel company TUI travels to Thailand and Vietnam and receives many questions from troubled travelers.

- There are a lot of people who have heard this morning. They are worried and want to know if the trip will be off and if it is safe to go. There is certainly some that want to book, says Adam Györki, press communicator.

Many bookings for the Sports Act were already made this summer. But anyone who wants to book does not get the money back.

- Now normal cancellation policy applies. We follow the Foreign Ministry's travel recommendations, which only apply to the parts of China that travel is not recommended for.

"Many refer to Agenda"

Apollo also received many calls during Monday morning.

- We are not called, but there are many more people calling today and many refer to the Agenda, says Apollo's Swedish manager Erika Butterworth.

In Sunday's agenda, two experts doubted whether they would travel to Thailand for themselves.

According to Erika Butterworth at Apollo, travel sales have fallen over the past week.

- Last week we saw that we sold about half the number of trips to destinations in Thailand, Vietnam and India against what we usually know before the infection became known. And during the weekend we basically sold nothing at all for the next two months, which is unusual. It is perfectly understandable of course. People are worried.

"We always follow the Foreign Ministry"

Customers have also contacted the tour operator during the day.

- Sure, we get some questions from customers, but very few cancellations, says Charlotte Hallencreutz, press informant.

The same rules for the purchase of travel apply here.

- As always, we follow the Foreign Ministry's travel recommendations. As long as there is no recommendation for a specific destination, all trips are carried out as usual and normal cancellation and rebooking rules apply. Should changes occur with customers' booked trips, we will inform you about this.
