Turkey announced yesterday that it had hit dozens of targets belonging to the Syrian government, after the killing of six of its soldiers in Idlib Governorate in northwest Syria, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that F-16 planes and artillery pieces had bombed targets identified by the Turkish intelligence, The bombing resulted in the killing of between 30 and 35 members of the Syrian army, which was denied by Damascus, and the official Syrian news agency, SANA, reported that the Turkish response resulted in no injury or damage.

Anadolu news agency quoted the Turkish Ministry of Defense as saying that it had bombed 54 targets in Idlib, Syria, and the bombing had killed 76 Syrian soldiers, contrary to the number mentioned by Erdogan. For its part, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that the Turkish military units were bombed during the night after moving inside Idlib in the de-escalation zone, without notifying Russia. Syrian television reported that the air defense system at the Hmeimim air base had shot down two planes traveling near the base.

Interfax reported that the Russian and Turkish foreign ministers discussed the situation in Idlib, and they agreed on the need to respect the agreement between the two countries.

In addition, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights announced that nine civilians, including children and seven people from one family, were killed in an aerial bombardment targeting a car they were traveling in in the western countryside of Aleppo, bordering Idlib governorate.
