As the Leonardo da Vinci blockbuster exhibition at the Louvre ends, a 2020 version Mona Lisa will go on sale in Paris at the end of February: a "Rubik Mona Lisa" (2005), by the street artist Invader, assembled with 330 Rubik's Cubes.

Auctioned on February 23, for an estimate between 120,000 and 150,000 euros, by the auction house Artcurial on the Champs-Elysées, this Mona Lisa is entirely composed with these 3D magic cubes, an emblematic object of the 80s.

Artcurial devotes a sale to urban art where works by great contemporary street artists will be dispersed.

Invader, whose real name is Franck Slama, made himself known with his "invasions" in the streets of more than 65 cities in 33 countries. He even gave a name to a current characterizing his "painting-object" works: "Rubikcubism". "Rubik Mona Lisa" will become the first piece in a new series revisiting the greatest paintings in art history: the "Rubik Master Pieces".

From the Lunch on the Grass by Edouard Manet to the Origin of the World by Gustave Courbet, Invader has already reproduced various pictorial works in Rubik's cubes. Since 2005, numerous exhibitions have been devoted to Invader.

While the legendary notoriety of the Mona Lisa has been bringing tourists from all over the world to the Louvre for years, a large Leonardo da Vinci exhibition can be visited there only by reservation since October.
