It is no surprise that President Alpha Condé made this decree to postpone the date of the legislative elections, initially scheduled for February 16, 2020 , two weeks later.
Several reasons pleaded in favor of this postponement: we can, among others, quote the boycott of the elections by the main political parties of the opposition, followed by the withdrawal of seven commissioners members of the Ceni to protest, according to them, against the opaque management of the electoral process.
Another reason: the involvement of the religious who asked the rulers to suspend the organization of legislative elections until the stakeholders in the process meet for the organization of fair, free, credible, independent and inclusive elections .
This second postponement of the legislative in less than 3 months, highlights the difficulties of the CENI to keep its electoral calendar, say observers.
According to these observers close to the institution, the CENI is faced not only with financial and technical difficulties, but also with difficulties linked to human resources.
