The Dubai fire index decreased 5% during the past year, compared to 2018, according to the Assistant Director General of Fire and Rescue Affairs, Brigadier Ali Hassan Al-Mutawa, who indicated that minor accidents accounted for 95% of the total fires recorded during the past year.

Al-Mutawa said that commercial fires decreased 7%, residential building fires decreased 12%, building accidents under construction 24%, industrial facilities 56%, farm fires decreased 10%, tower accidents decreased 10%, and marine transportation accidents 10% Also.

He added that the number of subscribers to the "Your Immunity" system for homes has risen to 2,600, pointing out that the system aims to complete the preventive safety system in all homes, by sending alarm signals to the control and control room in the Civil Defense within seconds of any emergency.

He emphasized that the smart monitoring system implemented since August 2008 as part of the infrastructure of the safety system, has contributed significantly to securing protection and safety requirements in buildings and facilities electronically connected to the Civil Defense Operations Room permanently (24/7), using the latest communication, monitoring and response technologies, He pointed out that the system has proven its effectiveness and practical efficiency during accidents that occurred in the buildings and related facilities, and their number exceeds 70,000 buildings in Dubai.

Al-Mutawa stated that the civil defense in Dubai witnessed a great development in recent years by using the latest technologies, and employing applications of artificial intelligence in the main operations and support, to achieve its strategic goals and main tasks to protect lives, property and the environment, pointing out that the achievements made in the fire and rescue sector formed a platform for the defense shift Dubai Civilian, from an apparatus that imports expertise to a pioneering institution that exports expertise to developed countries.

He explained that those successes in forward planning, professional training, full readiness and efficient field leadership contributed to reducing the response time to four minutes in a number of accidents last year, which was reflected in reducing the size of human and material losses.

He pointed out that the plans and programs coincide with awareness campaigns targeting different sectors of society about the sources of danger that cause fires and how to prevent them, and learn the skills of combating them in their early stages without exposing the people themselves to danger until the civil defense teams arrive.
