The three women must have been attracted - and forced - to sell sex for several months by the two men now charged, according to prosecutor Victoria Engelkes.

- It is about poor women without education who have to provide for their families. To quote one of them: You can't feel good when you do this, you have to turn off to survive, says Victoria Engelkes.

Primarily the sex trade went on in Uppsala, but they also went on "tours" to several southern Swedish cities, including Karlskrona. There, they contacted a Karlskrona resident through the Airbnb housing brokerage service, to get an apartment to conduct the sex trade in.

- He said he was from Italy and was a student. He also talked a little about being in Sweden to go around and meet students and that he was a student himself. I didn't experience anything strange about him, ”says the man in a police interview.

Suttit was detained for a year

For a total of three nights, the overnight apartment was rented out. According to the prosecutor, the two men must have published escort ads online to attract buyers - but how many who ended up buying sex in Karlskrona is unclear.

- I never saw any other person in the company of this guy. I also did not see any vehicle that could be put in conjunction with him, says the man in question.

The two men were arrested just under a month after the incident in Karlskrona and have since been detained. In mid-January, they were prosecuted at Uppsala District Court, suspected of trafficking in human beings and gross misdemeanor. Both men refuse a crime.

SVT News Blekinge has been in contact with the apartment owner, who does not want to comment on the matter at this time.
