A woman was injured in the hand by police fire after attacking two pedestrians in the Belgian city of Ghent on Sunday, local media reported, authorities have ruled out any terrorist activity.

According to the local daily Het Laatste Nieuws , the victims, wounded with a knife, were taken to hospital but their lives are not in danger. "There is currently no indication that the incident in Ghent is of a terrorist nature," a spokesperson for the prosecutor told Agence France-Presse (AFP).

According to Belgian media images, the neighborhood in which the attack took place was cordoned off Sunday evening and the police presence was strong.
