Nantes, April 29, 2016, the northern ring road at the Porte d'Orvault level - Frédéric Brenon

The phenomenon is well known to Nantes motorists but the situation this time drags on. For more than 24 hours, part of the eastern ring road has been closed to traffic. According to Bison Futé, the difficulties lie between the gates of Orvault and Anjou, in both directions of traffic, and this since Saturday at the end of the day. In question, a pavement completely flooded following heavy rainfall in recent days. The Gesvre, a tributary of the Erdre, got out of bed. Exit closures and detours have been implemented, also on a portion of the A11 motorway.

A word of advice, never take the North and East Nantes periph! Between the floods, the works and the accidents, the traffic jams are endless !!

Works yet carried out

Three years ago, however, a major project was undertaken at the Porte de la Chapelle to try to avoid these inconveniences. Nozzles had been removed to "facilitate the flow of the stream" in order to "reduce the risk of flooding," said Nantes metropolis.
