01 February 2020 Luciano Gaucci, historical president of Perugia, died at the age of 81. He passed away in Santo Domingo, where he spent the last years of his life. Gaucci had initially gone to the Republic
Dominican to escape allegations of fraudulent bankruptcy as a result of the bankruptcy of the Umbrian club. After bargaining and taking advantage of a pardon, he remained on the Caribbean island. He had been seriously ill for some time.

Luciano Gaucci was president of Perugia from 1991 to 1999, taking the Griffin to where he had never arrived in his history, from Serie C to A, launching players who would later make the history of Italian football like Marco Materazzi, and unusual champions such as the Japanese Nakata, who would later win the Scudetto with Roma.

Gaucci also owned Viterbo, Catania and Sambenedettese and came one step away from buying Napoli. An eccentric character, the beginning of his success is emblematic: he called his cleaning company 'La Milanese' despite being Roman, because he said that otherwise they would never have made him work in the north.
