Two people were indicted Wednesday in Guadeloupe for "assassination and complicity in assassination" after the death of a woman in Baie-Mahault. The murder was committed "in the context of an adulterous couple in crisis against a background of jealousy," said the Pointe-à-Pitre prosecution.

Dina, a 54-year-old mother, was found fatally stabbed in her damaged car this Monday in Baie-Mahault. The alleged assailant, a 50-year-old coconut seller, is a married man who "had several concurrent relationships", including one with the victim and another with his alleged accomplice.

The seventh feminicide of the year?

The 50-year-old was placed in police custody late Monday afternoon. His alleged accomplice was arrested Tuesday evening. Both were placed in pre-trial detention. The man is suspected "of having stabbed mainly in the legs and in particular a very deep stab cut which cut the femoral artery".

The man denies the facts despite a "very large number of damning elements", according to the prosecution. Her alleged lover and accomplice is confessed. She was "the driver of the vehicle that chased the victim and came to crash into her so as to immobilize her", allowing the 50-something "to carry out the fatal assault". The victim had had time to call for help.

The assault would be premeditated: during the weekend, a series of incidents show "an increase in pressure from the author which ended with this chase in the middle of the night," explains the prosecutor. This case brings to at least seven the number of alleged femicides in France in 2020. In 2019, AFP had identified 126 cases of women killed by their partner or ex, that is to say a woman every three days.
