Some 200 protesters according to the police began Thursday in the middle of the day to parade with cries of "Macron resignation" in Angoulême (Charente) where the President of the Republic was expected to open the comic book festival.

Gathered in front of the station, the demonstrators waving flags mainly of the CGT and FO, intended to go to the city center but were prevented from it by the forces of the order, present in number, noted the AFP.

The procession, which should only cover a few hundred meters, was opened by a giant cloth crow called BlackRock, named after the first asset manager in the world accused by opponents of pension reform of wanting to influence the government to encourage capitalization.

The president began his trip to Charente on Thursday morning with a visit to the Saft factory in Nersac, near Angoulême, to launch the project of a Franco-German pilot site for manufacturing batteries for electric vehicles.

Mr. Macron then had to go to Angoulême to visit the famous annual meeting of the 9th art, which awaits 2,000 authors from January 30 to February 2, have lunch at the Cité de la BD with fifteen authors and visit two exhibitions.

The festival marks the start of the comic book year, which programs some 800 events.
